It was King George III who granted Inverness Academy its royal charter…so, you see, he wasn’t always mad. The school has moved locations quite a few times over the decades and this modern building backs on to Culduthel Woods. The cycle lane between the school and the trees is one of our favourites because it offers a scenic short-cut avoiding the busy Sir Walter Scott Drive. You continue on past the Rollerbowl centre and up between the Gaelic school and nursery. Then, I’m afraid, there’s no avoiding what many think of as the most boring road in the city. Think of the next stretch as an exercise in mindfulness. Count the lamp-posts for extra fun!
