The mighty eagle on Sir Walter Scott drive is perched on a rock amidst a small oasis of Scottish heathers. We don’t advise having a picnic here, but it does help pinpoint your location on an otherwise bland and featureless road. That was the point of putting it here. A local councillor came up with the idea after spotting an original version of the eagle lying discarded. It’s been upcycled with repurposed metal and now looks ready to swoop down on local wildlife…or residents.

From here you’ll continue along the road until the big junction for Tesco, Raigmore Hospital, Culloden and the A9. Use all the available pedestrian and cycle crossing to get yourself heading uphill past the first access road to the UHI campus. Don’t go there yet, because we want to take you up to Cradlehall Business Park to follow the cycle route and then join one of the city’s latest active travel routes back towards through the campus over the golden bridge and then into the town centre. OK, we know this is a bit of a stretch but they say travel broadens the mind.
