Pop into the cathedral and if you spot a dangling rope be sure to make a Dad joke along the lines of “pull this one, it’s got bells on.” Yes, indeed it does - ten in fact, and their pretty peals can often be heard drifting over the city of an evening. Inverness Cathedral is what’s known as ‘gothic revival’ in style, which means it maybe looks older than it is. Opened in 1869, the interior boasts some beautiful stained glass windows and fifteenth century religious artwork. The old wooden pews are long gone though. They’ve been replaced by flexible seating that allows the Cathedral to be booked for music events such as the recent run of tribute bands.
