You see, this is where Inverness got it right. Whereas Edinburgh built him a monument and Glasgow put him on a column, we took inspiration from Sir Walter Scott’s love of walking and gave his name to one of the longest, featureless roads in the city. Scott believed long walks, free of interesting distractions, gave him plenty time to think up his stories and books. In fact, this road is so long you might have time to download the author’s complete works as audio books and have them finished by the time you reach our next waypoint. Oh, and the nearby nine-hole golf course reminds us of another author’s famous quote, It was Mark Twain, indeed, who described golf as “a good walk spoiled”. We couldn’t possibly comment.
