About the Festival
The Inverness festival is a week long celebration of walking and wheeling.
We aim to shine a light on the wonderful opportunities available in the heart of the Highlands to enjoy the benefits of being active outdoors!
The festival is organised by Partnerships for Wellbeing who have organised free Health Walks since 2004 and brings together nearly 30 different organisations to offer a variety of activities for different ages and abilities.
Getting active is great for our health & wellbeing and can also benefit the health of our environment. We can all play our part in reducing our carbon footprint by taking short, local journeys by foot, wheeling or public transport. The festival will champion active travel in all its forms!
This year, we joined 8 people on their walking or wheeling journey to work and made a short film about their experiences with the aim of inspiring others to do likewise. We will be showcasing the film at our festival launch on 15th May at Wasps Creative Academy (further details on our What’s On Page).
Also new for this year is our Funny Way to Walk! Famous funny folk are encouraging smiles in the fresh air with video messages for Inverness walkers. Each day of the festival we will point you to a specific route where you can scan QR codes and listen to well know celebrities including comedian, Karen Dunbar, singer songwriter Dean Friedman, radio’s Ken Bruce, Homes under the Hammer presenter Martel Maxwell, Still Game’s Sanjeev Kholi, plus Grado and Darren Connell from Scot Squad.
