Check the spelling of Friar. Our starting point has nothing to do with cooking fish, but if you are feeling peckish, there’s a cosy gastro pub nearby. Notice that aroma? Yep, the place is reeking with history because back in the day this was where the Dominican Friars would cast their fish nets across the river. In later days the start of the fishing season was such a such a sight to behold that people would take the day off work to come here and watch the happenings on the water. That’s how people kept themselves amused before Netflix was invented.

We’ve chosen this as the starting point for our Loop for no other reason than it’s a two minute walk from our festival H.Q. in Wells Street. Yep, sheer laziness. So, make use of that handy bench, lace up your shoes, pump up your tyres and let’s get moving… and remember that walking can help burn calories and is an effective way to increase your metabolic rate which helps weight management. Sorry to sound preachy, but we’re contractually obliged to shoehorn in a health message every now and again. Also an inspirational quote. Health, History and Hope, you see?
